Our school was inspected on 30th April and 1st May 2024, and the inspectors judged our school as GOOD. We are extremely pleased with this outcome for our school as there have been so many changes and improvements over the two years. The impact of these changes was recognised, and the inspectors acknowledged the many strengths of our school. As with all inspections, they picked up a couple of areas for improvement which we were already working on.
There are many positives in the report and Ofsted inspectors stated that “Pupils here are well cared for. Their teachers are kind and supportive and listen to any concerns they may have. This assures pupils that they are kept safe.” We have been working hard on curriculum and this was acknowledged “leaders’ swift and decisive actions have recently improved the curriculum. This is now well-planned and taught. As a result, pupils are now achieving well across the curriculum.”
We were exceptionally pleased to be graded as good in all 5 areas: the quality of education, the behaviour of pupils and their personal development, leadership and management and the early years. Safeguarding is also considered a strength of the school.

Our Catholic Inspection (Section 48) report states that 'St. Mary’s School is a good school with outstanding features, particularly evident in its Catholic Life and within aspects of Collective Worship. Living out the Gospel values, together with the mission statement “we live life to the full, to become the best that we can be”, permeates the daily life of the school. Staff are excellent role models for the pupils, and the vast majority of pupils support their peers in contributing to the thriving Catholic ethos.'
